Mendizorroza

In spite of everything, neither of the two squads enjoyed clear opportunities to unbalance the balance of a defensive clash raised by Madrid, with a local team that carried the weight of the game, although without the necessary depth to knock down the defense of five composed by the people of Madrid.

The clash was mediated by the yellow card that Rodrigo Ely received in minute 2 of the match, which conditioned the Albiazul defense in which Víctor Laguardia was not involved due to suspension.

The vertical game had more presence in the first minutes, although it was the local team that took the ball in the initial part when verifying that the visitors gave space at the start of each offensive action.

In spite of everything, the best option was Kevin Rodrigues in the 15th minute when after several disputes he was able to put the 0-1 at the far post, but his shot went over the goal of Fernando Pacheco. It was the only dangerous action of the first half hour, in which neither of the two squads had enough depth to disturb their rival.

The first shot on goal by the Basques came in the 33rd minute, after a gallop on the wing by Aleix Vidal, who picked up a ball on the left wing and after several rejections it reached Lucas Pérez who, on the turn, looked for the goal of Cuéllar , but the shot went over the visiting goal.

Those of Asier Garitano sought to overcome the iron defense of Madrid with balls overhead with the aim that the second row from Albiazu finished off, but those of Javier Aguirre retracted very well and covered Vitoria’s intentions. The game was encouraged at the edge of the break and Manu García was very close to converting a good pass from Rubén Duarte in 39, but the shot went brushing the post.

When it seemed that the game was going to go to halftime with a scoreless draw, a good combination from Leganés ended with a shot inside the area by Martin Braithwaite that cooled Mendizorroza and made it 0-1 before the referee’s whistle.

Local reaction

Alavés came out with another march after passing through the changing rooms in search of a draw and Joselu was about to push a ball at point-blank range that Lucas Pérez put from the left wing, but a providential Kevin Rodrigues ruined the occasion in the 51st.

The pepineros did not lose their place and the babazorros tried it on the wings without success, until Manu García hit a pass from Scotsman Oliver Burke with his head, but his header came out very focused and Cuellar caught it without problems.

Meanwhile, Javier Aguirre’s men were waiting for a counterattack in which to surprise the Vitorians, they completed a monologue in the circulation of the ball, before an insurmountable defense.

Alavés insisted and obtained the award in 81 after a corner kick that gave way to a commotion inside the area from which Rubén Duarte managed to get a hard shot that Cuellar could not catch and Joselu Mato took advantage of the rejection to equalize the contest.

Simeone: "We need to improve in the League"

Murthy: "The plan to make Valencia great works"

The people from Vitoria were not satisfied with the draw and went for the game, but they could not complete the comeback. Still, you can breathe easy outside of a relegation zone in which Javier Aguirre’s are kept.

Alavés already has a replacement after the departure of Antonio Sivera. And it is that according to the newspaper ‘AS’, the current West Ham goalkeeper Roberto Jiménez will sign for the Vitoria club.

The 33-year-old goalkeeper will sign a loan with Alavés until the end of the season with the aim of covering the loss of Sivera, who will play for Almería on loan.

Roberto, who left Espanyol last summer market and signed for West Ham, will have the same role as the previous Alavés substitute, since Fernando Pacheco is the undisputed starter in Mendizorroza, since he has played 16 of the 19 league games disputed so far.

The goalkeeper is a well-known footballer in the Spanish league, as he has been part of several teams such as Málaga, Espanyol, Atlético de Madrid or Zaragoza, among others.

In addition, he also has experience in other foreign competitions, since he played the Liga NOS with Benfica and the Greek with Olympiacos.

As the clash progressed, Granada settled down, although Pacheco did not have excess work. In the final stretch of the first act, Tomás Pina had to be replaced by Wakaso after a bad gesture on his knee. The locals were not spared from injuries and Raúl Espínola, local coach in the absence of Diego Martínez, had to change Quini, injured after stepping badly, for Carlos Neva. The first time was losing rhythm and ended goalless.

Second half red and white

Three minutes after the restart, Carlos Fernández finished off a measured cross by Víctor Díaz at the far post to open the can. With no time for the Vitorian reaction, Soldado put the ground in between from the penalty spot. A maximum penalty that Gil Manzano had decreed by the hand of Manu García.

The second local goal and the expulsion, for a double yellow, of Wakaso, put the finishing touch to a disappeared Alavés. "It is something that cannot be imposed but I cannot imagine that in the coming years there will be signings for 100 million euros"said the former German international. · The price of transfers will fall, the amounts in the next three years will not be able to move to the level of before, because all countries are affected. Most likely the world of football will be different"he added.

Hoeness, on the other hand, praised the reaction of the German authorities to the crisis and called on the public to abide by the restrictions that have been imposed: "Politicians in Germany are doing a sensational job. It’s about human lives. That’s why you have to abide by the restrictions", said.

Hoeness did not want to speculate on the future of the Bundesliga given the loss of income due to the crisis but said that if it is possible to play games behind closed doors, the existence of some clubs will not be in danger.

"The games behind closed doors would also guarantee the distribution of television money and if that is possible there will be no existential risks for 2019/2020"Hoeness said. However, Hoeness added that if it can’t be played before Christmas, "the very existential foundation of the Bundesliga will be in jeopardy". Regarding when it can be played again, Hoeness said everyone who makes predictions about it is "charlatans".

Granada will seek this Saturday to cut its five-game losing streak without knowing victory, although its rival, Alavés, arrives at Nuevo Los Cármenes in a positive dynamic of game and results despite losing in the previous game against Real Madrid.
